As you all found out last time, I have one salty pomchi. Today, I’m going to tell you a little about my sweet little chiweenie, Moe Thor (my sisters wish it was Thor Moe). Though it didn’t take long, after we’d had Tink for four and a half years, it had become obvious that she had one clear favorite among the family members- our dad. Though we all really love her, she definitely would have traded the other four of us for Daddy any day. My sisters and I really wanted another dog that would be friendlier towards all of us (or at least that would possibly pick one of us as their favorite). Though none of us expected to actually get another dog anytime soon, one day, our mom was scrolling through Facebook when she came across a litter of three brother chiweenie mixes. They were named after the Three Stooges- Curly, Larry, and Moe. My middle sister and I were out of town on a mission trip when we received a picture in our family group text of a little floppy-eared white dog. My sister immediately called it that we would end up getting this dog. I secretly agreed, though I tried not to get my hopes up.

A few days later, we decided we would go and meet the puppies and their mom, Piglet. She was just over a year old and was turned in pregnant to the rescue organization. All three dogs were sweet and playful, but Moe was the one we all had our eyes on. The woman taking care of them was very kind and obviously really cared for all of the dogs she fostered in her home. On June 8, we decided to make Moe an official member of the family.

On the drive to his new home, he didn’t make a sound and even slept some! Immediately, he made himself at home, eating and playing and snuggling up with us like he was born to be with us (I think he was). The one thing that concerned us was how Tink would get along with him as she has always been angry upon even the sight of another dog. Upon first bringing Moe home, she was completely mortified of him although he was half her size. Little by little, she became braver and more willing to be in the same room as he was.

We contemplated giving him a new (and Disney-themed) name, but we decided that Moe just fit him. The best part is that he has a mohawk, which showed up after he was named and has stuck around to this day- how cool, right?! Now, he’s a friendly boy who likes to sleep by our feet in bed, get into trash, and most of all play with his sloth toy. Every Christmas or birthday, we get him a new sloth, and he’s had and destroyed 4 now (and there will likely be another one every birthday and Christmas as long as he lives). Moe absolutely adores Tink, especially sniffing her butt, in spite of her incessant growling and barking at him. As I write this, I can hear him barking at the carpet cleaner downstairs. His carefree personality has made him the perfect addition to our family. Even though he messes around outside when he’s supposed to be going potty, I cannot imagine life without this silly, long, white dog.

If you adopted a second dog, how did your first dog react when you brought them home? Let me know in the comments!
